Claim Governance Policy

Last updated: February 2026

This document defines how Markdown for Agents verifies, labels, and maintains factual claims. We prioritize evidence over marketing, clarity over hype, and reproducibility over assertion.

Claim Status Definitions

Every significant factual claim on this site is internally classified with one of the following statuses. This classification drives how we present the claim to readers.

PassClaim is supported by reproducible evidence. Source cited, methodology documented.
FailClaim contradicts available evidence or lacks any supporting data. Removed or corrected.
Insufficient SampleLimited test coverage, narrow URL set, or short time window. Not generalized without qualification.
ProvisionalPreliminary finding, subject to change as more data arrives. Labeled clearly as directional only.

Evidence-First Rules

First-Party Benchmarks

Direct measurements run from our environment. Methodology published, raw data available where possible.

Third-Party Signals

External benchmarks clearly labeled with source, date, and limitations. Not treated as ground truth.

Feature Claims

Backed by API documentation or observable behavior. No aspirational features stated as current.

Performance Claims

Include sample size, test environment, and confidence interval where applicable.

Prohibited Claim Types

We do not publish or maintain claims that fall into these categories:

  • Absolute superiority without qualification ("fastest", "best")
  • Unverifiable market share or usage statistics
  • Future performance guarantees
  • Competitor metrics not from neutral sources
  • Anecdotal evidence presented as general truth

Comparison Content Standards

  • All competitor comparisons include direct links to benchmark methodology.
  • Third-party data is labeled with source and date.
  • We describe tradeoffs for all tools, including our own.
  • "When to choose X" sections exist for every competitor.
  • Review dates displayed—claims may stale as products evolve.

Correction Process

If you identify a claim that violates this policy or lacks sufficient evidence, contact us through the project channels. We review and either:

  • Add supporting evidence and update the claim status
  • Restate the claim with appropriate qualifiers
  • Remove the claim entirely

Scope

This policy applies to all content on markdownforagents.com, including comparison pages, benchmark data, feature descriptions, and marketing copy. It does not apply to user testimonials or third-party quotes, which are labeled separately as opinion.
